Minor Midgets Drop a Tough one at Kawartha Lakes
Northumberland Nighthawks Minor Midgets dropped a tough decision to the Toronto East Ender Tiger Cats 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Kawartha Lakes Tournament in Peterborough.

Penalty troubles lead to Northumberland giving up two power-play goals with the last one coming with 25 seconds left in the third period while down two players. Again for the third game in a row, Northumberland got an excellent goaltending performance, this time from Jeremy Macdonald.
Toronto built themselves a 1-0 lead on a first period power-play and held that lead until late into the second period when an aggressive forecheck by Drew Clapperton and Austin Gilmour lead to Carter Clarke picking up a turnover inside the Toronto blueline getting a quick wristshot off to beat the Toronto goalie over his shoulder. Unfortunately for the Nighthawks that's all the offence they could muster in the contest.
The lose for the Nighthawks eliminated them from the Tournament, finishing with a 1-1-1 record. Up next for the Nighthawk Minor Midgets is their season opener on September 21st in Pickering.
