Rowan's Law
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Sun 07 28, 19
Rowan Stringer was 17 years old when she passed away following a concussion received during a rugby match for her high school team. It was determined that she died from Second Impact Syndrome and had likely suffered two previous concussions in two games during the five days preceding the match where she suffered the fatal injury.

Rowan was a grade 12 student, captain of her high school rugby team, she was an avid lover of all sports and was University bound to become a Registered Nurse. Her death and the results of the Inquest spurred her family to campaign for "Rowan's Law"

The Ontario Hockey Federation has been working with Hockey Canada on the implementation of Rowan’s Law since the adoption of the Rowan’s Law Concussion Safety on March 7, 2018.

The NMHA is in full support of the intent of Rowan’s Law to create awareness of concussion, change the culture on concussion and provide safe sport participation.

After July 1, 2019 every Player, Team Official and On- Ice Official (parent as well if individual under 18) in order to register/participate must review the OHF Concussion Code of Conduct and the appropriate Concussion Awareness Resources.

*This review and acknowledgement must take place prior to participation in the first game.

Please review the following Rowans_Law with directions for both Rep and House League players!
