OHF Champions!
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Sun 04 16, 17
Congratulations to the Railside Peewee AA team on their outstanding achievement, in capturing the OHF Championship this past weekend.

The team of 17 young Northumberland Nighthawks put the cherry on the top of their already phenomenal season with an overtime victory in the finals of the OHF Championship game.

The boys earned their place in the OHF's after making their way to the tops of the Lakeshore League after beating their season long rival; The Whitby Wildcats.  They then went on to sweep the Aurora Tigers, and beat the Orangeville Flyers, to successfully take the OMHA title and earn the coveted Red Hat.  This incredible run gave them the privilege to represent the OMHA at the provincial level.

The OHF weekend is certainly about hockey, but more about celebrating the teams of players that compete there.  They began their weekend with a banquet, they proudly saw their Nighthawks jersey displayed for all to see, they listened to Ron MacLean speak about the joys of hockey, they were welcomed into a dressing room with personalized name plates and skate carpets, food and drinks, and they traded hockey pins with their fellow participants.

This tournament was not one about personal stats, or MVP's, it wasn't about pretty goals and shut outs, it was about playing and battling TOGETHER as a team. Every one of the players, on every one of the representing teams, deserved to be there, because TOGETHER they were the best of the best.

This weekend was a weekend of phenomenal hockey, the boys went 4-0-2 and captured their semi final and final wins in none other than overtime!

Congratulations to the coaches and team staff who have committed so much of their time and poured their heart and soul into this group, and to the parents and fans who tirelessly supported the boys on and off the ice, and most importantly a huge CONGRATULATIONS to this very special group of boys for all of their achievements together as a team!

Hockey teams will come and go, but these memories, you will cherish forever!
