Bound for the OMHA Playdowns
In the CCC Bowl on Thursday night the ATOM AA Nighthawks took a major step towards clinching a spot in the OMHA playdowns with a 5-2 win over the AA Clarington Toros who stood only 3 points back with a game in hand. Aidan Crowley turned in another solid performance between the pipes. Wingers Jack Kelly and Jacob Bone led the way offensively and the defensive corps limited much of the Toro’s play to the
outer portions of the ice surface.

On Sunday in Oshawa the Atom AA Nighthawks played one of their most complete games of the season against the AA Oshawa Minor Generals. The team was backstopped to a 7-1 win by Austin Potts whose rebound control and competitiveness were on display for all to see. Led by several “highlight reel” goals from Beckett Ewart, and more solid play from the defence corps, the group as a whole showed up seeking to avenge an earlier disappointment in Oshawa in late December. Head Coach Gord Kelly commented that he was thrilled to check off another in a long list of team goals set by him, his staff and the players at the beginning of the season, “from the drop of the puck we hounded them at every opportunity! Our power play was patient and well organized, we controlled the middle of the ice and back checked as though it were an elimination game. I am very proud of this team; we have a culture in the room that is unified and now we plan to take it to the next level in the OMHA playdowns.” Sunday’s victory ensured a place in the top 4 and their first visit to the highly competitive OMHA playdowns. “We will be in very tough against the Whitby Wildcats,” Kelly added, but “we know them and they know that we can do more than scare them if we play a team game.” The ATOM AA Nighthawks have 2 more regular season games against Kingston and Belleville before heading to the playoffs.
