We Need You!
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Tue 08 03, 21
In advance of next weeks AGM, let me take a moment to thank our existing volunteers and welcome all new ones.

The NMHA is a non profit organization which relies entirely on volunteers to put forth a fun, quality product for the youth in our community.

Each season we line benches with volunteer coaches, training staff and managers,  our Ref in Chief assigns referees for all of our games, our Timekeeper trains and coordinates our timekeepers and your elected Executive members help to guide the NMHA in the direction that best represents the wishes our membership.

The AGM to determine the new Executive Committee for the 2021/2022 season still has vacant positions which received no advanced nominations.

In this event, we are able to receive nominations from the floor, the evening of the meeting.

I urge you to consider if you, or someone you know, may have the time and desire to join us in one of the available positions.  Currently available: Director of Development, Events Coordinator, Equipment Manager and possibly the VP of Rep Hockey.

These positions are all integral to the smooth operation of the NMHA and must be filled to ensure that the best product that our members have come to expect, is seamlessly provided to them.

The Executives that will be returning to lead next season have full portfolios as it stands and are not in a position to assume any additional responsibilities.

I can't emphasize enough how crucial it is for all positions to be filled. Just as a team can not be formed and compete without a coach or trainer, an association can not operate with gaps in the leadership.

An association such as ours, should be reflective of its members.  Based on the acclaimed positions, more than half of the Executive members are parents of U16/U18 players.  This group of long standing volunteers will be moving on as their children graduate from the Nighthawks and the urge for younger families to step up will be greater than ever.

Serving on the NMHA's Executive is a rewarding experience!  It is a fun and dynamic way to give back to this community, especially for an activity that is as beloved as minor hockey is in Northumberland.

Looking forward to coming together with you all next Wednesday to collectively help get our exciting season underway!

If you have any questions, please reach out!

Many thanks,

Michelle Brown
NMHA President
