Hockey Updates
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Sun 06 06, 21
Happy Beautiful Sunday!

I know that hockey has been shelved towards the backs of your minds right now, the weather couldn't be better and it truly seems that we are on our way to the better side of what has been a very difficult year.

While we patiently wait for our plan to be put in place for the fall, we wish all of our sister and brother minor sports organizations all the best with their summer programming.

NEXT SEASON
The Nighthawks have been quietly working in the background to determine our next steps and are hopeful about the 2021/2022 season.  There have been no concrete determinations but we will be following Hockey Canadas and the OMHA's decisions very closely.  As of now, we are expecting to be on the ice the first week of September.

OHL DRAFT
I would like to congratulate Ethan Miedema and Christopher Brydges on being selected in this weekend OHL Selection Draft.  Ethan was selected 4th overall by the Windsor Spitfires and Christopher was chosen in the 9th round by the Guelph Storm.  Both of these boys played for the Cobourg Cougars before they amalgamated with Port Hope to become the Nighthawks.  These two are impressive hockey players and representatives of Northumberland - well done boys, wishing you all the success you have worked so hard for.

AGM
Our AGM has been tentatively set for June 26th.  We will not be able to confirm the details until the province provides us with clearer direction about how gatherings can be held.  In the meantime, we are still accepting, and welcome Executive nominations.  The deadline to do this is June 9th, so if you would like to nominate a current Executive member to serve the organization again, or have new candidates in mind, please be sure to officially nominate them!  Serving on the Executive is a year round commitment, the reward and satisfaction of helping to operate an organization to best serve its members is definitely worth it.

And, as always, we should never take an opportunity to forget thanking all of the dedicated volunteers who contribute to the success of our proud organization.  Your service, especially last year, during a very challenging season was appreciated more than ever!

Enjoy the sunshine and we will keep you posted as we all optimistically navigate our return to hockey.
