The First Shift Begins!
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Thursday, October 17, 2019
Last night the CCC felt very much like Christmas morning for the newest bunch of Northumberland hockey players!

These excited kids, lined up to check in, got their hockey bags, put their jerseys on and then they visited each station to collect their  helmets, pads, skates, socks and sticks!

The NHL/NHLPA First Shift program gives kids, who have never  played hockey before, an opportunity to try out this fabulous sport and learn the basics while having FUN!

Each child is outfitted head to toe with equipment, and provided with 12 on-ice sessions with our fantastic volunteer instructors.

Many thanks to our Director of Development, Adam Holzmann for coordinating this program for our future Nighthawk players, and to Jaclyn Diminie for stepping up to once again share her hockey expertise with this group as our Head Instructor.

As always, members of our NMHA community also volunteered their time to help ensure that the evening went off without a hitch - you are all awesome and very much appreciated!

And a special thanks to the First Shift staff who were full of passion and enthusiasm for the sport and simply captivated the eager kids at each of the stations making sure that their first introduction to hockey is a fun one!

If you want to catch a glimpse of the next generation, of super cute hockey players, they begin their on-ice sessions Saturday, October 26th at 10:00am, at the Pond.
