We are very Thankful!
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Sat 10 12, 19
Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful.

Its a time to give thanks for all of your blessings and to be generous to those in need.

We should all be very thankful that we live in such an amazing community and even more appreciative that we belong to such a wonderful, extended hockey family.

This afternoon, the Minor Bantam AA team got the opportunity to meet with Ms. Lucy Van Laar and present her with all of the donations that were raised during the NMHA's Childhood Cancer Awareness Month campaign.

This great group of boys, welcomed Lucy and her family into their locker room after practice, where team captain; Jordan Trakosas spoke on behalf of the boys, and gave Lucy an envelope of cards and donations from the Atom AE, Minor Peewee AA, Bantam AE, Minor Bantam AA, Minor Midget AA and Midget AA teams.

It was very special to watch so many of our teams rally behind Lucy and her family. The character that our players, teams and families exude is incredible, generous and so very kind.

Last month, our teams hosted bake sales, games, made posters, wore Go for Gold jerseys and collected "Loonies for Lucy".

Lucy has been battling kidney cancer, and now that she is finished her treatments she is putting all of her energy into getting back to doing what every little 6 year old girls should be doing - being a kid!!!

The thoughtfulness of our teams that took Lucy and her family under their wings was humbling.  Lucy has now become the Nighthawks newest fan, and she is very excited to get back to the arena to watch some hockey games.

You are always doing something incredible for people and organizations in our community and for that - we are all very thankful!

Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving with your loved ones.
