This has been an incredibly special and meaningful month for our community. Several of our teams came together and hosted a variety of different fundraising evenings to raise awareness and funds for Childhood Cancer.
The Nighthawks teams did everything from donning the Gold Jerseys, selling baked goods, hosting fun games, collecting donations and making posters to share information on Childhood Cancer.
This month is especially meaningful as we remember our friend Grace Bowen. Her spirit was very much in our hearts and she served as a driving force for all of our teams.
Our brave goalie Jack Bradimore has been battling like a trooper for the past several months and we are all rallying behind him and his family on his road to recovery.
The Nighthawks also embraced local 6year old Lucy Van Laar, who is on her journey to overcome kidney cancer. Several of our teams dubbed their collection efforts as "Loonies for Lucy".
This past weekend, we concluded our endeavours in the arena with the Bantam AA, Minor Midget AA, Midget AA, Bantam AE and Minor Peewee AA teams all rising to the occasion and hosting their own events.
Many thanks to our teams, visiting teams, players and families for all of their efforts, and a special thank you to all of those that supported these initiatives.
Northumberland is a very community minded place to call home. There is something extra special when our players and their siblings get involved to take on causes as important as Childhood Cancer.
Our entire organization should be very proud of the awareness that they brought to Childhood Cancer and the money that they raised to help fund additional research and to help support a local family.
You are all pretty AMAZING!
