Our Somervilles Novice AA Nighthawks are CHAMPIONS!
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Mon 01 07, 19
This weekend was a very long, tiring and competitive weekend of hockey for our Sommervilles Novice AA team.  Many of their families made their way to Barrie on Thursday night to be ready for play in the Glennn Bellerby Memorial Tournament.

This is a very large tournament, hosting many teams from all over Ontario.  Our young group of Nighthawks found themselves starting each morning with painfully early, 7:00am games!

The group didn't quite get off to the start that they were hoping for, dropping their first game against Oakridge 5-1. However, that didn't deter this squad, and they went on to finish the Round Robin series in perfect form.

They faced their Lakeshore rivals, The Oshawa Generals in the semi finals and were victorious, winning 3-1.

After 3 early mornings, this exhausted team, rested and prepared to face the only team that had beat them over the weekend; The Oakridge Aeros.  The entire team came together, each of them fulfilling their roles and after regulation time they were victorious, beating the Aeros with a convincing 5-2 win.

Congratulations to you all! We are very proud of your efforts and for claiming your first Tournament Victory!
