We live in a tight knit, caring and generous community that sees the value in our children playing sports and belonging to teams.
Northumberland is very fortunate to have such fabulous sporting opportunities for our children, and the Nighthawks are very pleased to have such fantastic relationships with our fellow organizations. Many of our hockey players, spend their off seasons playing lacrosse, baseball, soccer and a variety of other activities.
Because of this connection with other organizations, it is extra special when we support each other in our community minded projects.
This weekend is our Childhood Cancer Awareness event. We are dedicating all of our home games to raising funds and awareness for those families needing it most.
To kick off the fundraising efforts, a group of pretty fantastic, 16 year old Nemesis Lacrosse players have graciously donated $150 to the
Grace Bowen Tribute Fund. These boys had a stellar year on the lacrosse field and court, and have extended their winning ways by donating to a very special charity which is close to the hearts of our hockey families.
Several of these young men are also hockey players with the Northumberland Nighthawks, Quinte Red Devils, Quinte Golden Hawks and Peterborough Petes - they are a collection of well rounded athletes with BIG HEARTS.
Many thanks to all of you for your generosity, your kind community spirit is very much appreciated and is to be applauded!
