2018/2019 Development Providers

The Northumberland Minor Hockey Association is pleased to announce their Development Providers for the upcoming 2018-2019 season.

We are appreciative for those who submitted their proposals to us, and after reviewing everything, we feel confident that we have chosen to go with the providers that will best meet the needs of our players.


puck_it.jpgOur Skills Development Provider will be Puck-It. PUCK- -IT is an on and off ice development company operating out of Ontario since 2012.

Owner and instructor Adam Holzmann along with head Instructor John Foley have been developing hockey players for several years in the Northumberland, Quinte and Niagara areas. Team PUCK- -IT focuses on core fundamentals and alternative techniques for rapid player growth. PUCK- -IT’s instructors have worked along side many elite players over the years running pro and Junior skates.

John has been involved with the Justin Williams Hockey Camp since inauguration.

Adam has worked with Pro coaches like Bruce and Ben Boudreau gaining depth and knowledge. Both Adam and John have coached locally either in Northumberland or Quinte and have enjoyed working with the local communities. PUCK- -IT has brought forth world class development and looks to help push NMHA to he next level.



dennis_(2).jpgOur Power Skating Provider will be War Horse HockeyWar Horse Hockey, owned and operated by Dennis Sicard has been providing hockey skills development and power skating instruction for the past 13 years.

Dennis was born and raised in Lindsay, Ontario, and relocated to Cobourg to play Jr. A Hockey for the Port Hope Predators when he was 16years old.  After his Junior career, he attended Buffalo State University on a hockey scholarship, followed by a 13 year stint playing professional hockey in United States.  During this professional career, he was part of three Championships.

Dennis is known throughout the hockey community as one of the hardest working guys on the ice, he is renowned for his enforcing prowess, and for those who have seen him skate - they would say he flies!

During his off season, Dennis has hosted and instructed in hockey camps all over the United States, and throughout Ontario.  His passion for the game, and natural ability to connect with young players will bring a unparalleled level of intensity and fun.  He is looking forward to working with the Nighthawks this upcoming season.


gard.jpgAnd our Goaltender Development Provider will be GARD Goaltending, Larry Sadler, Matt Bourgeois, Andrew Miller and Paul Gabourie. G.A.R.D. was created out of a consolidation of four well know goaltending programs originally based in the Durham Region. They decided to combine their sizable technical expertise to create a new energetic organization, G.A.R.D. Goaltending, servicing all the needs of modern goaltending.

G.A.R.D. operates and has operated goalie instructional programs throughout Ontario, Europe, and Asia.

Larry Sadler (Smartgoalie.com)

Larry is a trained Hockey Canada HP1 coach, a certified USA Hockey Coach, a Hockey Canada NCCP instructor, he is a certified Hockey Canada Goalie Coach Level 1 & Level 2, and Hockey Canada Master Instructor in the Goalie Coach Certification Program. He is a certified goalie instructor who is approved to use the Finnish Goaliepro approach.

He has been a goaltending lecturer and has taught at conferences in the US, Sweden, Finland, and Canada. He has taught goalies for over 45 years and has served as a Goalie Evaluator at provincial and national U17 Camps. He served on the OHL Goalie Advisory Board for three years and has been a goaltending coach with goalies playing in the OHL, KHL, OHA, NCAA and CIS.

He was invited to observe the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and Finnish Ice Hockey Association U17-U20 goalie camps, he has been goalie consultant and scout for the Swedish WJC and U20 team, and he recently worked as goalie coach for HC Gherdeina (Italy).

He was the Port Hope Panthers Jr C goalie Coach (2016-2017).

Matt Bourgeois (Absolute Goaltending)

Matt is the Goalie Development Lead with the NOHA, for their Goalie Coach Level 1 & Level 2 Certification Program. He is a certified Hockey Canada –Instructional Stream - Level 1 & Level 2 Goalie Coach and Level 1 & 2 instructor for the program.

He has been developing goalies in North America, Europe and Asia for over 15 years. He has developed goalies from Initiation to the KHL.  He spent the last two seasons in China working with both their National Male and Female Team goalies. Recently He spent 4 months in Beijing as the Development lead for the NHL’s grassroots program.  

He currently works as a Goalie Specialist/Family Advisor and Player Representative in North America with AXIS Talent Management and placing several players on Prep, Junior and Professional teams. Matthew is an advisor to the OMHA, a Hockey Canada HP1 (pending) and a staff writer for the Goalie Guild. He was a presenter at the Network Goaltending Seminar in Nashville (June 2018).

He will be the goalie coach for the Cobourg Cougars OJHL team (2018-2019).

Andrew Miller (Rick Heinz Goaltending)

Andrew has been a trained educator and program designer with the PVNC Catholic District School Board since 1990. He is in charge of creating all off-ice classroom sessions and in ensuring the overall course curriculum core skills will be introduced

to NMHA goalies, whether they play AA or AE and that they meet the age-specific needs of those goalies.

 

He is a certified Hockey Canada D1 coach as well as a certified Hockey Canada Goalie Coaches Level 1 coach. He attended the OHL Goalie Coaches Conference in 2017 and 2018. From 1997-2008 he was head instructor with the Rick Heinz Goalie Schools.

He has served as assistant coach/goalie coach for St Peters Secondary School College and St Stephens Secondary School OFSSA boys and girls hockey teams (2105 OFSSA bronze medal winner), and for Rep boys and girls minor hockey. He was an evaluator and instructor at a 2018 OHL/OHF U15 goalie clinic (Oshawa).

He played goal with the Ryerson University CIS hockey team.

Paul Gabourie (Gabourie Goaltending)

Paul has both his Hockey Canada D1 and CHIP coach’s certification and is a Hockey Canada Level 1 certified goalie coach. He opened Gabourie Goaltending January 1, 2018 but prior to that he trained goalies in the Oshawa area at all levels.

He has been a NASC Head Coach, an OCHL, an Oshawa Minor Generals, and an Oshawa Lady Generals goalie coach. He has been with championship teams in both girls and boys hockey (3 time Silver Medalist, and Midget AA Gold Medalist). He has worked with goalies at the OHA Junior level.
