Changes are coming!
Submitted By Michelle Brown on Wed 12 06, 17
It doesn't matter if change is good or bad - change can be hard.  But informed, reasonable, timely change is much easier to accept.

The OMHA has rolled out its new plans for Programming for Novice aged players and below.

After much discussion, research and collaboration, they are making some changes to how hockey is introduced to our young players across Ontario.

It is a very exciting program, which we have already begun to introduce to our Northumberland Nighthawks this year at the IP level.  If you haven't had a chance to see any of our young hockey players use the dividers and play half/cross ice hockey - make a point to watch one of their practices.  The kids are thriving, and having a blast playing on a smaller ice surface which is much better suited to their own size.  They are more engaged, focused and 100 times happier to touch the puck and be more involved in the play!

This is a big change for those who have been around hockey for a long time, but this a GREAT change for those who are just beginning their hockey careers!
