In our first season together, the boys really bonded. They were not used to playing together as the team was made up of a mix of Cobourg and Port Hope kids. As the season went on the team began to gel and they appeared in the finals of a tournament in Barrie at the end of November.
The successful season ended with a third place finish in the regular season. They were eliminated from the OMHA playdowns in the second round by the second place team from Peterbourough. It was a close series that had two overtime games and a total of three one goal games.
The league championships started off with a tight battle against Oshawa that went a full five games. The success with Oshawa brought about a rematch with Peterborough in the Finals. The best of seven series started with a 1-1 tie and then the Nighthawks took over with four straight wins ending with a 2-0 shutout in the final game to win the Championship.
The team is now waiting to represent the Lakeshore League in the Lakeshore/York Simcoe Challenge which battles the two league champions against each other. This will take place in Cobourg at the CCC on April 9th.
