Our Nighthawks U16 AA team took FIRST PLACE at the Oshawa Challenge this past weekend. What an exciting weekend it was for the team!
From the very first puck drop, the players came ready to compete; showing determination, teamwork, and heart in every shift. Game after game they battled hard by blocking shots, winning races to the puck, and making smart plays under pressure.
The team scored a win in the semi finals beating the Kanata Blazers by a narrow margin of 3-2, taking it in overtime. It was an exciting and extended overtime playing three rounds consisting of 4 on 4, then 3 on 3, then 2 on 2 with Fisher cashing the winning goal, assisted by Woodman!
In the Championship game the team came together and played their hearts out winning 3-0 against Ottawa Sting. Goals were scored by Fisher, Lafontaine, and Hansen with assists by MacDonald, Mroz (2) and MacLean. The icing on the cake was our goalie, Windsor, counting a shutout in the final to help the team secure the Championship.
Congratulations to the U16AA Nighthawks team for all of their outstanding teamwork and determination!
