“Grace Bowen was an outgoing, determined, and passionate young girl whose love for hockey could not be measured,” a note reads on the Northumberland Wild’s website. Although she lost her battle to cancer in 2015, at just nine years of age, her spirit and passion for the game of hockey, will now live on, inside the walls of the Cobourg Community Centre, when the Pond Arena will be renamed to honour Grace.
As we approach the Grace Bowen Arena renaming ceremony on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, players and family members of the NMHA community who wish to attend (who are not on the private guest list) can enter through the Cobourg Community Centre's East doors into the Bowl Arena (750 D'arcy St), where the ceremony will be live streamed on the arena score boards, beginning at 10:00 AM.
At 10:30 am the Canteen will open and a craft table will be available for kids in the Grand Hall. From 11am to 11:30am there will be a scrimmage game between Grace's teammates featuring the puck drop by the Bowen family. Then at 11:30am until 12:30pm, community members are welcome to join for a free, one-hour, public skate at the Grace Bowen Arena.
Don't miss out on this special event.
