The Northumberland Nighthawks U18AA team has a new coach!
Mike Williams has been
selected to take over the head coaching position for the Northumberland Nighthawks U18
AA team (2025-26 season).
Mike is a father of two from Curve Lake First Nation who played minor hockey in Lakefield, Ontario up until U17 where he and his team won an OMHA Championship. Mike played junior hockey for the Lakefield Chiefs and Peterborough OHA Jr. A. After his playing career ended he went straight into coaching where he has coached at every level except Junior. Mike was an assistant coach winning a provincial championship with the Peterborough Ice Kats with his daughter's team in 2016.
The last two years, he has coached U15 and U16 teams in Ennismore, winning an OMHA Championship in 2024. Championships aside Mike has always had a love and passion for the game of hockey. His 25-year coaching career has taught him a lot and now he puts more emphasis on the development of hockey players as good human beings. Mike feels "the most important thing to me is that they leave my program as better young hockey players, with a good set of values, morals, and a sense of self respect."
Welcome to Northumberland and thank you for being a Nighthawks Coach, Mike!
