Double Header Weekend
The double header weekend started off with the Friday, November 4th game against Belleville Bulls at the Cobourg Community Centre (pond) and ending on Sunday, November 6st game against the Whitby Wildcats at the McKinney Centre.

At Friday nights game against Belleville Bulls was a very tight and challenging game.  The first period showed just how comparable the 2 teams were because that period ended with the Bulls getting a goal very late into the period.  The second period was much of the same as the first period except the Northumberland Nighthawks seen themselves get a penalty for too many players on the ice.  With the Bulls on a power play they still couldn't get it past the Nighthawks and their goalie so they all played so hard for the 2 minutes.  The period was scoreless for both teams so it  finished 1-0 for the Bulls.  During the third period both teams really came to life where the Nighthawks got another penalty for slashing and then the Bulls got themselves a penalty well on the power play with an interference call.  The Nighthawks then were on their power play and went down to tie the game up.  With only about 8 minutes left in the game the Bulls went down and got another goal to make the game 2-1 for the Bulls.  As much as the Nighthawks tried they just could not get the puck in the net to tie the game up.

The Northumberland Nighthawks traveled Sunday evening up to Whitby to play the Wildcats at the McKinney Centre.  This game was very interesting but also very rough as the game seen many injuries throughout the game which weren't called by the refes but not much we can do about it.  The Wildcats were able to get the puck past the Nighthawks a couple of times early in the first period to make the game 2-0 in the first 3 minutes of the game.  The Nighthawks did get the first penalty and it was for body checking.  The Nighthawks played hard the rest of the period and didn't let them score anymore goals.  The second period definitely got lots of action as it was full of doubles with the Nighthawks tieing the game up with 2 goals, got 1 more penalty which was body checking again and the Wildcats got 2 penalties which were for body checking and interference.  The second period ended with a 2-2 tie.  The third period was just as tense as the first 2 periods.  Both teams seen 2 more penalties which included tripping, interference, roughing after the whistle and slashing but unfortunately the Wildcats were able to get another goal to make the game 3-2 for the Whitby Wildcats.

Come on Northumberland Nighthawks Minor Atom AE we have another double header this weekend with Pickering coming to the Jack Burger Saturday afternoon and the team traveling to Belleville Sunday evening. Let's go team and get back on the winning side.
