Jack's Fundraiser raised over $17,000
His jersey may be huge, but it won't be once he gets back to wearing it over his goalie equipment!

About 6 weeks ago, we learned about Jack Bradimore.  We all were able to recognize Jack from the photo of him in his blue, goalie, Nighthawks jersey.

He is a hockey player, he is a 10 year old Merwin Greer student, he loves cats and sushi and he has a massive brain tumour.

Our hockey community sprung into action to help this family.  Jacks parents were camped out between Sick Kids and the Ronald McDonald House, life as the Bradimores had known had changed in the blink of an eye and we wanted to help!

The financial burdens of life don't stop when you have a sick child.  Your time and energy should not be spent worrying about bills, gas money, food, etc... instead they should be spent together as a family focusing on health and wellness.

One of the most touching parts of our fundraising efforts has to be the 6 amazing kids, who stepped up and did some pretty incredible, thoughtful things for their friend Jack.  Hudson and Quinlyn Tutty hosted their own bottle drive, collecting $117, Avery Clow collected donations instead of birthday gifts so that she could help Jack, Brooke Gimblett baked, sold and collected $320 at a bake sale that she held herself, The Northumberland Jacks U10 team hosted a Golf Tournament and donated $660 and Addy and Grayson McCullough sold coffee and doughnuts at their yardsale, and raised $125 for Jack.  Stories about kids reaching out to others in their community are so meaningful.  Their efforts, their kindness and their generosity speak volumes about their character and we are all so very proud of them!

Another amazing part of the Bradimore fundraiser was the outstanding support from our community.  Once the word was out that the Nighthawks would be hosting a Dance, the phone didn't stop ringing.  Everyone wanted to help. The following people very generously donated and supported Jack and his family and we can't thank them enough! Their kindness made this fundraiser possible and kudos to each of these businesses and individuals!

The evening would not have been such an outstanding success if it wasn't for our amazing group of volunteers who volunteered their time to help us sell tickets, set up the raffle, and run the front door.  Thank you all so much for your time and your support!

This dance was a huge undertaking and it would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of the Nighthawks Executive; Chad, Kelly, Lynn Marie, Renee, Adam, Bill, Bob, Jenn, Chris, Derek, Jen and Kim.  The planning, coordinating, advertising and simply pounding the pavement was something that each member stood behind and the Nighthawks members are very fortunate to have such a community minded group leading them this season.

Our hockey community, and our community at large is one of the most supportive, generous and tight knit groups around.  We rally around those in need with such warmness and tight arms that it is impossible not to feel the love.

The Bradimores are a very kind and generous family themselves and what we have done for them will forever be appreciated.  When I gave them the cheque and personalized jersey for Jack, they were teary and gracious and completely flabbergasted that a community of people that they hardly know would do something so kind for them.

I can't commend you all enough for your support, your generosity and your honest good natured community spirit!

Much love xo
